Charlotte CFMA will be supporting Turning Point this holiday season to help serve women and children affected by domestic violence. Donations will be accepted at the program meeting on Wed., December 13th. Your support is greatly appreciated!
What is Turning Point?
Turning Point began serving women and children affected by domestic violence in 1985. Thanks to the support of the United Way and caring citizens within our community, the shelter has evolved into an 11,000 square foot, 42 bed facility, one of the largest in the southeastern United States. Though we are located in Monroe, North Carolina, are often used by residents of Charlotte and other surrounding counties.
What is the Mission of Turning Point?
Turning Point is committed to “turning our community away from domestic violence” and providing victims of domestic violence and their dependent children with safe shelter while they learn how to break free from their abuser. Professional staff, survivors and volunteers educate the community about the devastation caused by violence in the home and the social injustices women endure as a result of domestic violence. Staff and volunteers teach clients how to live an independent and violence free life through counseling, case management, victim’s advocacy and a variety of other services tailored to meet the needs of each client.
